and i was so touched by these words from Debby and George. Thankyou so much - you've made my 2013!

"I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for all your help and assistance over the past 18 months as you have slowly taken all Debby’s ideas, frequently changing, often random, and mostly sent via text during the middle of the night, and putting it all together to produce the spectacle that we both dreamed of, and that everybody who attended will never forget. You should be very proud at what you have achieved.
You also managed to co-ordinate all the suppliers on our behalf and this allowed us to enjoy the build up as well as the evening itself, and more importantly kept the pressure and stress off Debby which in turn helped keep her condition under control.
Katie and yourself worked extremely hard during the day arranging and re-arranging flowers and other props inside and outside the hotel, and I can only apologise that I did not have much time to talk to you both during the day as it all went so quickly. As previously stated you should be very proud of what you have achieved, and both Debby and I hope the photographs and the experience you have gained will be of benefit to you and you ongoing business.
We both wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Yours Faithfully, George Emms"

Bling! Black! White! ... Pure Elegance - Issue 4 Flower Expert blog for Miss to Mrs Magazine...

Here is my second blog for the fabulous Miss to Mrs Magazine Issue 4...

Well wedding season is well underway and what beautiful weather we have! Here is a little tip for all you brides...If you have Hand Tied Bouquet designs for your wedding day, ask your ushers or chief bridesmaid to carry a small bucket of water around with you and put your flowers in water when you are not having photos taken to ensure they look beautiful all day. So, here we are, Issue 4 and our second flower expert blog! Please feel free to get in touch with Miss to Mrs Magazine if you have any floral questions you may have and I will be more than happy to answer the best way I can...

In this month’s blog we are talking Bling! Black! White! It’s all about pure elegance...

How would you describe pure elegance wedding floral design?

In my opinion every bouquet that I design has an element of elegance to it, whether it is a contemporary bouquet of Vanda Orchids or Hand Tied Design of compact Hydrangea and Peony. Elegance can be created using any colour and design, but to me Pure Elegance shouts out simplicity and minimalistic design. Keeping everything very natural and showing the true beauty of floral design and flowers using very simple accessories such as dymanty crystals and pearl beads.

What colour scheme would you recommend to create a pure elegance and sparkly theme?

White, Ivory, Cream, Green and even Black! I would recommend clear cut edges, minimalistic design and Sparkle to be used throughout a pure elegant theme! The use of mirrors and dymanty crystals add an extra touch of elegance and purity to floral design and would really sit well within the theme.

What flowers would you use to create a pure elegance style bouquet?

Keeping in with a simple elegant theme I would recommend a Hand Tied bouquet of compact Avalanche Rose.  Using the roses to create a big ball of domed roses, tied off with black satin ribbon and sparkly dymanty crystals sitting in the centre of each rose. This creates a beautiful simple and elegant bouquet, keeping the flowers very pure and showing their beauty and also creating a wow factor bouquet. For something a little different I would recommend an over the arm bouquet of trailing grasses with pearl beads thread on. The grasses would create a perfect back ground for Phalanopsis Orchids to trail over. Again tied off with Black or White Satin Ribbon this bouquet would really impress your groom and guests and is pure elegant in every element.

How would you create a pure elegance style table decoration?

I think that by stripping everything back and keeping to simple designs and using the correct design to suit your tables and room is the key to creating the perfect pure elegant design. Keeping everything in its natural appearance would look so beautiful and adding those extra accessories would bring the wow factor to your room. I would use the same flowers as used within your bridal bouquet, keeping your theme running throughout every floral design. A simple clear glass flute vase filled with clear gel balls and a compact ball of roses cascading from the top or using mirrored bowls or cubes filled with roses and Phalanopsis orchids, grasses and dymanty and pearls. You could even use Black Glass vases bringing in a statement to your tables and providing a canvas that really will show off your pure elegant flowers.

In conclusion, there is no right or wrong decision to be made. If your theme is Pure Elegant then by keeping your designs very simple and minimalistic you can’t go wrong! It’s your wedding day and your florist is there to make your vision and dreams come true!

Vintage Flowers - Issue 3 Miss to Mrs Magazine...

Hey everybody!

I am so excited to announce that you can now find me as Resident Floal Designer in Miss to Mrs Magazine!!! Issue 3 of Miss to Mrs Magazine is out nowI!!!

and here is my flower expert column...

In this month’s blog we are going all Vintage Style and talking different types of Vintage Design.

How would you describe vintage style wedding floral design?

Vintage style floral design to me is capturing the natural beauty and fragrance of timeless blooms. Using blooms to reflect a natural fragrant design really captures the beauty of the Vintage Era.

What colour scheme would you recommend to create a vintage theme?

The most popular colour scheme for a vintage style wedding would be Ivory and Dusky Pinks. This year I have seen the use of Blues and Purples become popular too. I think that pastel colours reflect the vintage theme much better than using vivid oranges, yellows, limes and reds, but then saying that, if the flowers are selected well using Orange Roses, Berries, Solidaster, Poppies and Ranunculus a bright coloured Vintage bouquet can look just as effective and timeless as a bouquet using Pink Peony, Blue Scabious, Hydrangea, Astilbe and Syringia. It also depends on season and design.

What flowers would you use to create a vintage style bouquet?

I would recommend flowers to reflect the season of when you are getting married. This will also help to guarantee availability of the flowers you have chosen and also help you keep your costing’s in on budget. As we are approaching the summer and this year’s wedding season, I would suggest Peony, Ranunculus, Hydrangea, Astilbe, Viburnum, Eustoma, Freesia, David Austin Roses, Avalanche Roses and soft foliage like Panicum Fountain, Eucalyptus, and Small Leaf Pittasporum. This choice of flower is all in season for the next few months and will create a beautiful timeless vintage bouquet full of gorgeous scents and fragrance.

How would you create a vintage style table decoration?

This is where you can really have some fun bringing in quirky accessories such as Milk Bottles, Jugs, Metallic Silver Candelabras, Urns, Gold Fish Bowls, Rings of Flowers and Coffee Jars. The table decor can reflect the type of Vintage Theme that you have chosen for your day.

Here are a couple of suggestions for different themes:

Vintage Glamour:  Using Silver Metallic Candelabras using a ring of flowers at the top and the base of the candelabra, brings together the vintage traditional timeless feel with the glamorous metallic silver. Looks amazing together and very glamorous! You can also use Metallic Silver Bowls over flowing with timeless blooms on alternative tables.

Country Garden Vintage: Bringing the outside indoors and keeping a very natural vintage tone to your guest tables, you could use milk bottles, Jugs and coffee jars filled with natural vintage blooms such as Eustoma, Freesia, Gypsophilia, Alchemilla mollis , Stocks and Hydrangea, tied with natural Raffia. These blooms would create a lovely fragrance to the room and the designs would be very fitting for your theme.

In conclusion, there is no right or wrong decision to be made. If your theme is vintage using scented natural and timeless blooms you can’t go wrong! It’s your wedding day and your florist is there to make your vision and dreams come true!
